Audrey Kandil - Founder of Girl Boss Collection

We'd love to know your story! How did you get started?
I have never had someone on my team, cheering me on and showing me the ways of entrepreneurship. So I decided to be that person for myself and thousands of other women. I would like to say I was born an entrepreneur, but my parents would soon enough sway me into the medical field. They were entrepreneurs themselves, and didn’t always enjoy the road. Despite their ups and downs, I always had an interest in starting my own business, but never had the resources to do so. Until after college, in between jobs, I had enough. I didn’t want a company to be able to control whether or not I had an income. I wanted to be able to control that. Many times I have heard of people in my field being let go because they make too much or are at the top of their career. So I am supposed to work really hard and be really good at my job just to lose it one day for that very reason? No. I wanted to control my destiny and build my own empire.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the work I did, I just knew there was more out there for me and my future. After trial and erring a few business ventures, I found my passion.
Girl Boss Collection was born from my passion of digital entrepreneurship and motivation too see girl bosses create their own empires. Girl Boss Collection is a lifestyle brand for female entrepreneurs. We are on social media sharing inspiration, business tips, and all things girl boss lifestyle. What are the best resources that have helped you along the way?
The most inspirational person in my life is Heidi Somers. I do not personal know her but she was there for me my entire fitness journey and now I relate to her in business as well! She posts really great YouTube videos but is also on Instagram @buffbunny.

What advice would you give someone wanting to pursue career similar to yours?
The best advice I would give to someone wanting to pursue a career in entrepreneurship is to know that consistency and discipline are your two best friends. Also finding someone who has done exactly what you want to do, and letting them coach you.
I would like to give anyone who is thinking about starting their own business a piece of advice: Don’t quit your day job too fast. Find opportunities to grow and learn. Don’t compare your day 1 to someone else’s day 100. And most importantly, never give up.
What are the best resources that have helped you along the way?
Podcasts, books, and YouTube videos. There are probably too many to list but the current resources that I am loving right now are: Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (audio book) and The Empowered CEO Show by Elley Mae (podcast)

What are your top self care routines?
My top self care routine is simple. I take the time every morning to wake up, brush my teeth, wash my face, and journal. I know this sounds so little and like a no brainer, but I used to be that girl who would immediately open her phone when waking up and start panicking about my todo list. If I put my self care first, I feel so much better!
I think the most challenging part about what I do goes hand in hand with entrepreneurship. There is a lot of unpredictability, but I think that is all worth it in the end.
