Q: Walk us through your story!
A: Meet The Source was started as a side project so to speak by my husband, Bradley, and I. We were making almond milk and selling at local farmers markets and were trying so hard to figure out what to do with all our leftover almond pulp. We did not want to throw it away and after a lot of trial and error we finally ended up making a raw carrot cake out of it. The cake was so amazing that it slowly turned into us making all kinds of different snack bites that we now call bliss balls and other desserts. We got to where we are today with a lot of help and support from our customers, friends and family. We had so much support and so many people offered to help us in so many different ways. We were extremely humbled by the whole process and we now strive to help others starting out in their business journeys the best we can. Social media (Instagram) was also a huge help to our brand. It allowed us to have a marketing platform even though we did not have a marketing budget. It helped us hugely in spreading the word about our products and we are so grateful for the community that we have built around us.
Q: What advice would you give someone wanting to pursue a career similar to yours?
A: Start now and don't give up.
There will never be a "good time" to start a business so you just need to jump in, test the market, and start putting your brand out there to get feedback.
Things will happen and you will feel like giving up but make sure you have a support system and just push through because it will be worth it in the end.
Q: What are the best resources that have helped you along the way?
A: To be 100% honest, Google. That sounds so bizarre but I personally got a degree in business and it has helped me very very.... VERY little. Also, don't be afraid to ask people around you questions. The person you look up to the most was once in your shoes and it is more than likely that they are willing to help you. We reached out to brands that we looked up to and asked if we could call them, email them, pick their brains on topics they knew more about than us and so many of them were willing to help us.
